Just back from a long weekend at Waterside. We were a family of 3 with 2 dogs. I cannot recommend this place enough. From the comfy bed to the hot tub. What we loved the most was the complete peaceful silence. All you can hear is the birds singing. The hosts are friendly and welcoming and always there if you need anything. Bonus points to them for making sure the hot tub was clean everyday of the stay! The only con for me was the handheld shower, other than that it’s simply perfect.
We stayed in Maberry Cottage and had a great stay. Very comfortable.Dave was so helpful to us with logistics in terrible weather We were planning to walk Southern Upland Way but weather defeated us and had to turn back Hot tub was very welcome. Cottage very clean and warm. We have already rebooked!
What a magical place to stay! The lodges are really lovely, well equipped and comfortable. The location is spectacular, private, quiet, with great attractions to visit within the Galloway forest area and beyond. There are also great walks nearby from the lodges. We even fished on the river Bladnoch which runs through their land and caught a pike, only narrowly missing the 27lb whopper which others before us have caught. We think we hit that one and her smaller friend took the bait instead…that’s our excuse!
The lovely new owners of the Waterside Lodges ‘Rebecca & Dave’ were fantastic in every way. They kindly honoured our booking which had been made with the previous owner, even though there were only just moving in and getting everything straight for themselves. They looked after us so well, nothing too much trouble for them. It was my birthday holiday and they even gave me a card and gifts of wine and chocolates. Such thoughtful and lovely people, we really do wish them all the very best with their new home and business. We are so sure anyone will enjoy this fabulous place as much as we did. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay, we can’t wait to return.
Stayed here over the holidays with my two kids, wife and dogs. What an amazing place to escape from the daily grind of life. The hosts were brilliant, very friendly and knowledgeable. Well, worth the long drive.
Staying in all 4 lodges, we had the whole place to ourselves alongside Rebecca & Dave, (the most wonderful hosts!) their 4 daughters and very cute dog Oreo. There are glorious grounds which you can use as your “back garden” for the weekend, and amazing hot tub on site too. Nothing was too much for Rebecca & Dave, they went above and beyond for us and they responded almost instantaneously to any query/issue we had – ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our stay. They were also very accommodating to the 10 excited women who were loud playing hen party games after a few wines! We did have a few house guests (to be expected in the countryside) which Rebecca kindly assisted us with. The lodges were perfectly clean and tidy for our arrival, the interiors are gorgeous and spacious.
