An honest review. Went as a family for an aunts hen do. We had a stay that included use of the spa , a treatment and dinner and breakfast.
The Spa facilities are dates. They need rendering and also they could do with more than one jacuzzi. The Spa could do with a massive overhaul – it’s generally tired and looks unloved and unkept.
Another disappointment was children in the Spa. There is nothing relaxing about having children in the pool learning to swim. Children are in the pool till 11am then are out till 4pm and then opens back up till 7 for them.
There are not enough beds to lounge on and instead there are lots of chairs.
Not the best set up at all for a SPA and definitely more of a budget experience than a special getaway.
THANK GOODNESS FOR THE THERAPISTS AND treatments. Fantastic choice and fantastic delivery. 6 of us had treatments and every single treatment was amazing I had a 25 min back deep tissue massage and a mini facial. My therapist was lovely.
The therapist ho done my treatment was lovely. She expressed enjoying her job that she lives her work place she has been there 3yrars and seems very happy. That’s a testament to the management team. Who according to the staff memeber are fair with shifts and conscious of the affects having such a labour out job can have on team members bodies. They do a very difficult tiring and manual job.
My experience in the spa was very mixed. Would I recommend the SPA – for the right price yes but for the facilities and atmosphere a resound NO. I want peace, I want to lounge and relax in a SPA it’s not a place for children. I think you should have a purpose built facility for children.
Our evening meal was delicious! Duck main was outstanding. Breakfast only just warm. Cheap sausages, cold weak coffee out the machine. Only one coffee machine was working in a busy dining room. Not a great breakfast at all. I walked out it hour eating because I can not tolerate cold food.
The hotel has had some refurbishment over the years but the bedrooms we stayed in are still very tired and inconsistent. Some had fridges others didn’t. Views were lovely, house keeping so so. 2 beds in my room one duvet cover had a blood stain on the other had a tear. I didn’t notice till the morning but after the not so great breakfast I did make complaints to reception who again ere lovely.
I am giving a 5 star review for the treatment side of the spa. The lady who spoke to us and organised treatments for our group of 8 was very professional and helpful. Our treatments were done by Nicole and Chloe and everyone in the party were happy. The treatments were lovely, mostly facials and massages. Some of our group preferred peace and quiet and some of us a chat. Both girls accommodated both choices well. I had Nicole, she was lovely and we had a good chat. The hotel is lovely. Seems a bit short staffed and service a bit slow but all staff were lovely. The spa was not very relaxing as children playing and hard to get a bed. I was with a group of women but may have been disappointed if I was with my couple for a rest and romance. Lovely 60th birthday weekend
I had a wonderful experience at Slaley Hall Spa. My massage with Matilda was absolutely amazing — she was incredibly professional and made me feel so welcome and at ease throughout.
The afternoon tea was superb and the perfect way to finish the visit. A truly relaxing experience from start to finish. Highly recommended.
My partner booked us a spa day which was a wonderful surprise. However, the excitement soon ended when we arrived and the first thing I could hear were children screaming and running around the pool area.
I appreciate the pool may be open to guests from the hotel however spa days are supposed to be relaxing and this was very far from it.
The towels were old, scratchy and had holes in. There were pool loungers however relatively few.
The changing rooms were very hot, uncomfortably so.
We had a short treatment in the spa itself which was ok and the ladies who did the treatment were lovely.
Once we got to the restaurant we were seated however waited around 15 minutes to even get a drink and we had to ask for it, we weren’t offered one. We had ordered a chicken Caesar salad and I’m not entirely sure what we were served…limp lettuce, poor quality chicken, soggy croutons, anchovies and a Caesar sauce. We also should have received a glass of Prosecco each and despite asking for that with some water, only the water was provided. It was a further 10 minutes before the Prosecco was provided.
The brownie for desert with melon and a single blackberry was dry.
I think for what is advertised as a 4-star hotel, spa and golf resort it is astoundingly underwhelming and very overpriced for the experience and service we received.
I would not recommend to anyone and would advise looking elsewhere if you are wanting a relaxing day with good food and good service.
My husband and I went here for the day on a wowcher deal, which included 2 full 25 minute? treatments each and a 3 course meal.
We arrived around midday and were led straight to the chill out room, which is lovely to just put your feet up and relax, whilst sipping some iced water and reading a magazine or listening to music etc.
Following the filling in of the consultation form, we were led to the therapy rooms which were warm and extremely relaxing, with a lovely ambience. The massage bed was heated which was great for my arthritis and being a therapist myself, I was interested to see what the therapist was like performing the treatments. My husband had a salt body scrub and a facial, and thoroughly enjoyed it, and I had a back, shoulder and neck massage using Espa products followed by a holistic facial. Lucy was my therapist for the day and she performed the treatment very well, releasing a lot of my tension and leaving me feeling very relaxed. My skin looked and felt so much nicer too.
The meal was a little limited with not many options, but still, very nice, and the waiting staff were very pleasant.
The pool itself is wonderful, surrounded by a tranquil, rocky setting, with plenty of beds, a small bar area, fresh lemon/Orange water on tap, and I came away after a full day of being truly pampered with a bag or two of Espa products to boot, as there was a knockdown sale on the spa products. Lovely clean changing rooms and robe and towel hire is also free with this deal, which it isn’t in a lot of other spas. There is also a steam room and sauna as well as a jacuzzi offset to the main pool. All in all, a wonderfully relaxing experience which we intend to repeat, and would highly recommend. Having been to other spas, this is by far my favourite. Thank you for a wonderful day.
