This place has absolutely nailed the whole ‘central but somehow magically quiet’ thing – which, let’s be honest, is like finding a unicorn in most places these days. You’re right in the thick of everything but can actually sleep without earplugs. Genius!
The rooms were spot on – clean, tidy, and properly modern without that sterile ‘did I accidentally check into a laboratory?’ vibe. And the location? You couldn’t ask for better if you tried.
But can we talk about the staff for a hot minute? Absolute angels, the lot of them! So welcoming and helpful, they probably would’ve carried my bags AND given me a city tour if I’d asked nicely enough.
Now, here’s where things get serious – the breakfast situation is legendary. We’re talking proper classics here, and those cappuccinos? Massive, beautiful, perfectly crafted works of art that could probably wake the dead.
Pro tip from someone who learned the hard way: the cafĂ© opens to the public at 9am, so if you don’t fancy queuing behind half the neighborhood for your morning caffeine fix, get yourself down there early! Trust me on this one – you’ll thank me when you’re sipping your glorious cappuccino in peace while everyone else is still rubbing the sleep from their eyes.

We had a fantastic experience staying at Monties Guest House. The location is perfect, in the middle of town but yet quiet rooms (we slept so well!). Room was very clean and the breakfast offering was generous. Above all, the staff were incredibly nice and accommodating. We got stuck in Windermere due to train strikes but Monties were super helpful in organising an extra night for us and even helping us find a space to take some work calls on our last day. Would highly recommend ❤️
