I have just had a short stay for the Lent Course. My first ever visit to Hyning. Beautiful place. By that I mean the welcome everyone is given. You are made to feel welcome and special. Everyone is so joyful. The accommodation is exceptional. Comfortable, warm, modern with wonderful views from the windows. The food is good and generous. The grounds are extensive and peaceful, a real pleasure to walk round and if you lift your eyes higher the hills and skies are spectacular. There is also a very friendly black and white cat in the grounds who happily befriends you. The teaching given was really good and catered for different learning styles. It was made interesting. I could have listened to the Sister all day and usually my attention span is poor. All in all a wonderful stay. I would highly recommend it to Catholics, non Catholics or anyone without a faith. I will look forward to returning.
Wonderful day at Hyning today. Enjoyed everything about it. Talks were brilliant, food excellent and all the nuns and priest so welcoming. Thanks for a lovely experience. ❤️
The Hyning community is very warmly welcoming and homely. There is an immense spiritual heart with the needs of all guests held in prayer. Driving through the gates is to enter a different, peaceful place to rest, let go, restore.
A nice monastery run by a lovely and friendly community of Catholic nuns. There is a guest house which is maintained by the nuns at high standards. Also, you can enjoy their amazing marmalade and jams!
The sat nav takes you to the back of the monastery. We could not find access. Google “Monastery of Our Lady of Hyning” for the correct directions/entrance. I have suggested a location edit to Google. But you should access it from the main road (Hyning Road, Main Street) coming from Warton towards Yealand. It’s down a signed driveway on the right.
