Nice Hot tub!
Cottages are well equipped and private.
Make sure you bring pound coins for the electric meter.
Highly recommend staying here.
My partner booked hayloft cottage for my birthday weekend, lovely little place and lovely location and lots of walks for dogs and Jo is very friendly!
Only negative is the hot water! The hot water is controlled by an immersion heater! Couldn’t have a decent bath or shower and once the water had gone that’s it for hours!
Fantastic place to stay. We went up for a weekend away for my birthday. We stayed in one of several of their cottages that look to have been converted from what was a Stables, giving each cottage character. They are beautifully laid out with the bedroom downstairs, 4 poster bed, en-suite, and the old stable door acts as the blind for the door. Upstairs you have the living area, with kitchen dining area and wood fire should it get chilly. The grounds of Ellen Hall where the cottages are well kept, clean, and there is ample parking. Including a large covered Barn if you want to keep your car out of the weather.
The owners were an absolute delight and couldn’t do enough to make the stay a pleasure. Recommending walks, local areas to visit and helping where possible.
One of the things id advise you to try if you stay here is the Hot Tub. It’s a wonderful place to relax, enjoy some hydrotherapy with a beautiful view of the wooded area to the back of the grounds where you can watch the many birds fly between the trees. (personally Id like to visit in Winter and see the snowy scene from the warmth of the tub)
Finally this is a dog friendly venue. There were several other couples there with dogs some of which had visited year on year for the last 7 years (which tells you everything you need to know about this place) Will definitely visit again (not just for the hot tub) as there was lots more to do than we managed in the weekend we were there.
Thanks Jo and Wayne for a wonderful stay

Jo is a lovely lady and great host. Really nice place to stay with nice gardens and a brook running through. Easy parking. Pub nearby, 15 min walk. Dog friendly stay. Cottage was lovely and had everything you needed plus a log burner for cosy nights if the weather’s a bit cold. Will definitely return. Oh and a hot tub available for rental on site.
This was our second stay here and we we already can’t wait for another trip. Jo is ever so lovely! The cottage is well equipped and with everything you need. We were initially disappointed that we couldn’t use the hot tub, but all things considered, a wise decision and we were just so glad to have been able to visit the area again.
It is the perfect base for going out walking with the dogs, we went out to all sorts of places – Sale Fell, Ling fell, Buttermere, Loweswater….all just a short drive away!
