We booked 2 properties and the Two shakes ,the Shepherds Hut over Aug Bank Holiday.
The website seems to portray 5 star accommodation but I feel its falls a little lower and must be self acclaimed .
Cleaning was a little poor, cobwebs and dirty shower traps. Windows were grimy
We had booked a cot and highchair for our youngest family member but it wasn’t set up and we had to search around for the equipment.
Outdoor toys are a little tired but children enjoyed playing on them
Unfortunately the site had a water burst problem and we tried to get in touch by phone but no answer. We were e mailed later with information.
Felt a bit disappointed that there was no introduction or interaction with hosts about this
Hospitality basket a bit middle road from the Co op
    Never mind .
When you book 3 accommodation s at once you feel you could have done better
After reading an earlier 4star review on Google I was prepared to doubt it but I’m afraid I agree.

We had a good time staying here at Budle Bay Croft, but i think it’s seen better days unfortunately. I loved the sound of this place and the website made it seem like it was amazing. We stayed in the cosy Budle Falls. The accommodation was stated as being 5 star but it wasn’t. The accommodation was dusty, especially in the bathroom. It all smelt a bit musty and damp. However, The linens and towels were clean and the beds comfy. We always bring our own toiletries anyway but in the website it said there would be luxury toiletries, when in reality there was none, just a soap dispenser with fairy liquid in the bathroom.
The outside equipment for kids was dirty and strewn about like nobody cared. We cleaned it up and our kids were oblivious. The big climbing frame and trampoline needs a few tweaks and a good clean also. I’m aware outside toys do get mucky but maintaining these should be the same as everything else if offered. The garden surrounding the property also needed a bit of love, grass mown, roses deadheaded etc.
The animals were gorgeous and the kids loved seeing them about. We happened to be around when the food was being given and they were allowed to help feed the animals.
We appreciated the thoughts and details related to having kids in the property, plenty toys and equipment to assist daily tasks. I did have to move quite a lot of trinkets and decorative pieces for fear of the kids breaking them.
The location is handy for accessing the beautiful Northumberland coast. It is surprisingly quiet for being on the main road through the village. It all looks idyllic when you first arrive but just needs a bit of an update and TLC. Potential to be a lovely spot.

Spent a weekend here with our two young kids and dog- a perfect escape.
The cottage is equipped with everything you could possibly need for going away with kids. Our 3 year old had a blast exploring the cupboard full of toys in the twin bedroom, including plenty of dressing up options!
Dog friendly, with an enclosed yard and bowls and a bed provided.
Lovely to have a wander around and meet the animals, and very peaceful.
Walking up the track through the paddocks you’ll reach the pizza van- 10/10 on taste and really convenient for the evening we arrived to save cooking!
A 5 minute drive to Bamburgh- I believe this is walkable on the coastal path but a bit far to do with our little ones.
The cottage was spotless, super comfy beds, and well equipped.
We hope to return for another stay in the future and thank you to Allison and Ian – great hosts- attentive without being intrusive.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at Budle Haugh, the cottage was spotless & so beautiful. Our 2 boys loved the toys they were in the cupboard & playing outside in the garden.
We enjoyed having a walk around the animals, the boys loved feeding the chickens, ducks, sheep & ponies.
We had a great time exploring the local area, and we will hopefully be back!! We didn’t want to leave!

We’ve just returned from our stay in two shakes. What a beautiful shepherd’s hut in a lovely location. The hut is well kitted out with everything you could need and even more! This is what all self catering stays should be like. The welcome gift pack was a lovely, thoughtful touch. The bed was so comfy and there was plenty of wardrobe storage space. We had pizza whilst there and it was the tastiest pizza I ever had. I would happily recommend to anyone. Thank you Allison and family for a lovely, peaceful stay.
