Fantastic food, staff were lovely and very welcoming . I eat here now and then, and highly recommend this place whether you’re visiting , celebrating , holidaying.
Whatever the occasion this is the place to come ; you will always be made to feel welcomed.
Thank you all at the Auld cross keys Inn. And a big shout out to the cook for a lovely meal
This wee inn is the definition of a hidden gem in the Scottish Borders. My partner and I dined here the other night, and the food was outstanding. Everything we had was cooked with passion, and the flavours were either light and smooth or an utter explosion in the mouth.
For starters, I had the smoked duck salad with feta cheese; the combination worked really well. The sharp, tangy flavour of the feta cheese really complemented the smoky flavour of the duck.
For the main course, I chose the beef and ale pie with chips and vegetables. The beef was incredibly tender; it literally fell apart in the mouth. It was accompanied by a rich, flavourful gravy—it’s definitely a dish I would order again.
Finally, for dessert, I had the sticky toffee pudding. Most sticky toffee puddings I’ve had are incredibly sweet and just too much. This one, however, the sponge was light, moist, and warmly spiced. Accompanied by the sauce, it was just to die for.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting or staying locally in the Borders. Many thanks to all the staff who made us feel so welcome.
My partner and I will definitely be back.
Have never had a bad meal here. The food is fantastic and valuable for money. The place is always busy, which speaks for itself. The staff are very friendly and attentive. They are good-sized tasty portions. We have always been accommodated for as we never seem to get round to booking. Everything is very clean, and tables are cleared quickly and efficiently. Would highly recommend the Cross Keys Inn. will not be disappointed. Our favourite has to be steak and ale pie though prawn cocktail is amazing.
The staff is amazing. Very helpful and kind. They have some Nepalese dishes on the menu which are very good and a surprise in this small town. They carried our bags to our rooms which were often nice size.
Had a the pensioners fish and chips for just £7.50 a head. Excellent value and lovely old school dining room at old school prices.
