The Ship Inn on Holy Island is a real gem. It’s welcoming, cosy, and has that traditional island pub feel that makes you want to linger. The food is excellent, with hearty, well-cooked dishes and plenty of local seafood on offer, while the drinks selection is spot on for a relaxed pint after exploring the island. Staff are friendly and attentive, creating a laid-back atmosphere whether you’re popping in for lunch, dinner, or just a drink. With its mix of good food, charm and hospitality, it’s the perfect place to round off a day on Holy Island.
*Two fish and chips with two pints of beer = £50.40. This is a tad dear, but no critique of the pub as HMRC will get more than the owner!
It was so good here we went back here today!
This is a fantastic traditional pub in the heart of Lindisfarne. We had a beautiful room, clean, warm and excellently presented. The bathroom was the same, huge, clean and very spacious.
The breakfasts were superb, a brilliant menu including Eyemouth kippers, full English, poached eggs on toast, all the usual cereals and wide selection of fruit. The evening meals were well priced with a great selection including plenty of vegetarian options and with good sized proportions and nicely presented, this is safe bet. However the real jewel in the crown were it’s staff, wonderful people who just go the extra mile, the bar has an excellent, friendly atmosphere, with well kept ales and a bar manager who knows his stuff. If you order the keema curry be sure to ask for the homemade chilli sauce, this is an 11 out of 10. I can’t speak highly enough of the wonderful service and brilliant weekend we had. We’ll be sure to return.
We had lunch here on Sunday and it was very busy. We had crab sandwiches, ham&cheese and tuna sandwiches. They were nice and fresh. However we thought the lady who served us at the beginning was a bit grumpy, probably she was too busy and tired.
Wonderful stay. Great food and host. Amazing comfortable room, great hospitality tray, Cosy and warm room.
We were told this place is a must for crab sandwiches and they were right. Fresh and welm presented considering the number of customers. We arrived early to get a table outside in the garden and grab a place in the queue. Although very busy, it was a relaxing atmosphere and rather peaceful. The staff are friendly and hard working.
