We stayed 3 nights in the sky den and purchased the gold activity package.
The accommodation was quirky indeed, a bedroom with a roof that fully opens so you can get lost in the wonder of the night sky.
The activity package was great, high ropes was very hairy! No gentle introduction just straight into a ladder and pole climb with hand and foot spikes as you go up, next up was the king swing this was such a scream (literally), then onto the zip coaster which you get 2 goes on, this was such a hoot, I thoroughly enjoyed it, our final activity was axe throwing, from start to finish we had someone on hand to guide us through it and encourage us. We’ll definitely return here, thank you Calvert.

Highly recommended for a well equipped holiday with a disabled member of the family. Hoists, hydro therapy pool and inclusive outdoor activities. Loved our stay!

Just back from an incredible week at Calvert Kielder! This is our second visit and certainly won’t be our last. On this occasion we lucky enough to stay in one of their new lodges, the Sara J. The lodge was immaculate and really well appointed with everything we needed for a comfortable (and luxurious) stay, there was even a hot tub which we enjoyed at every opportunity.
We took part in so many different activities including; climbing, bushcraft, king swing, zip coaster, sailing, canoeing and archery. Every activity is completely accessible so was wonderful that everyone could join in regardless of their disability. The staff were so patient and kind and allowed each person plenty of time for the experiences.
We were on a full board basis and the food was fantastic, extremely tasty and filling.
All in all we had a wonderful time and actually came home very relaxed despite it being an activity holiday! We would definitely recommend.

    Pros:
    Beautiful location
    Great spacious cabin
    Everything was clean
    Comfy bed
    Air con(despite the leaking)

    Cons:
    1. The place is overun with giant mutant midges, I come from Scotland and never seen anything like these before. At night we couldn’t as much as open a window nevermind use the hot tub or barbecue and we had to hoover them out the bedroom and toilet. I reckon the high numbers isn’t helped by the condition of the land the grass is about 10 foot tall and there was no counter measures anywhere near our cabin (Stargazer). The Mrs arms were covered in big huge bites by the end.
    2. Shower was a slippery death trap
    3. The air-conditioning directly above the couch was leaking, in most cases directly on top of you making you jump out your skin. Because of this we were too afraid to turn on the unit directly above the bed in case the same thing happened overnight and our soles left our bodies.
    4. We were not able to archery or axe throwing because only one activity is organised per day and someone had asked for something else.
    5. Charging for toilet roll
