A delightful cottage, in one of the most idyllic parts of the British Isles. I stayed for a week with my wife and children earlier this year, and I simply could not rate Sally’s Cottage more highly.
The presentation of the cottage is absolutely perfect, both cosy, and stylish – with plenty of room for our lively family!
The hosts are fantastic, and ensured we had everything we needed to fully enjoy our time on the Island. The cottage is a stones throw from a fantastic coffee house, and perfectly situated to get to the village shop.
I always worry when I book to stay somewhere new, but I needn’t have, it was fantastic! Right on the front street next door to one of the best coffee houses I’ve been to (and I’ve visited a few), and a fudge and ice cream shop on the other! A short stroll down the road and you have Holy Island castle. The cottage itself is clean, modern and obviously loved as it has such a nice feel to it, everything is thought out to make your stay comfortable. The owner is a lovely lady, and very amenable; when we missed the tide she sorted everything out for us to make sure we didn’t get stressed out. There where scones and coffee to greet us which was a lovely bonus.
Would definitely recommend it, we’ll be coming back (soon I hope).
This is a great cottage, immaculate with superb facilities. It has a lovely garden to the rear. It is tastefully decorated with a homely feel.
The Island has a lovely atmosphere when the tide is in and the mainland is cut off. Treat yourself to a bottle of wine on the “Heugh” which overlooks the tidal inlet. It’s a short walk from the cottage and you can sit in the ancient battlements watching the seals and other wildlife only a few yards away.
We only stayed for a few days but Karen was really great and was always willing to help out with advice on what to do in the surrounding area, local history and more importantly the Tide Tables. The flat was neat, tidy and comfortable and conveniently located to a great cafe called Pilgrims which we later found out is owned and run by Karen’s son. We had a great time walking around the island, spotting the odd seal and snuggling down in the dunes – it an be a tad windy. We will certainly be coming back as the island is a great place to re-charge the batteries.
Absolutely fab cottage, greeted with cake, scones and fudge…made my beautiful wife’s birthday very special. Even the Holy Island villagers put on a bonfire and fireworks display, with soup to help her celebrate. Will definitely stay again.
